I am a new coach and I am looking for ideas for "fun" award categories.  I am giving out the typical Most Valuable Dancer, Most Improved, Most Dedicated.....but I need suggestions for fun and silly categories that other coaches use.  Thanks so much!

We did things that were specific to personalities on the team. We had a girl who made dinosaur noises, so we gave her "most likely to become a dinosaur". Get fun and creative with it. I've found the most memorable ones are crafted for a specific girl, not just fun generic ones. Smiley

I gave some mid-season fun awards like: the "Sunshine Award", which member brightens your day and the "Oxygen Award", which member could you NOT live without.
They were fun ones and the girls really liked them.

I give:
Most Improved
Leadership
Coach's Award

The team votes for the following:
Rookie of the Year
Chiefette of the Year (we are the chiefs...Chiefettes)
Most Spirited

I also do "Superlatives" that the girls vote on.  They are the funny awards.  We had one girl who was always on their cell phone so she was voted the "Can you hear me now?" award, we also had the "mother" award, and the Rockstar Award because of a girl who was extremely hyper when she drank rockstar energy drink.  They are fun awards that they look forward too every year.

I need a name for an award for a girl on my squad who I can always rely on when I draw a blank with the order of the routine.  Whenever I (the coach) forget what comes next (and at 42, this happens more often than I'd like to admit!), I just look at her -- she smiles and immediately does the next 8-count for me.

Maybe you can do something incorporating the word memory in it?  Like "Coach's memory" or "memory stick" (like a usb stick), which would be even cuter if she was super skinny like a stick...

I dunno, maybe that will help get your creative award naming juices going.  Tongue

I'm a cheer coach and I do silly stupid awards all the time.  Do a search on cheer awards maybe something will jump out at you and you can use it for your dancers. Smiley
