Hi! has anyone had experience with a daily food diary?

I like the idea of eating what the rest of my family eats and just set a limit, but, I wonder if someone has ever used one for Freshman 15 or allergies?

I saw an article in Shape that had three and Little Black Book was the favorite.

anybuddie know about this subject?~r

I do know that a food diary would help you keep track of the number of times a day you eat as well as the size of the portions you consume.

As far as diets and diet tips, we'll leave that up to other websites and message boards.  It's not a topic we wil ltackle here, mainly because you should see your family doctor prior to beginning any type of weight loss program.

i saw that in Shape, too.  I think if the purpose was for food allergies it would be a great idea... but Knog is right about weight loss topics.

I think the purpose of a daily food diary is just to make people aware of exactly what all they are eating. It's just a way to see where you can cut back on useless calories. It is just to make you more conscious and to think about what your about to eat in a sensible way. It wont completely help the weight loss, you must start eating right, and working out.

When I was a freshman in HS, my dance team coach made us keep a food diary over the summer.  They brought in a nutrionist to talk to us about eating healthy and how to figure out our "ideal" calorie consumption to maintain our weight.  We had a large number of girls who either weren't eating enough or weren't eating right, and our coach wanted to make sure everyone's eating habits were healthy.  I think it wsa really beneficial to me because it made me realize just how often I reached for the chocolate or chips rather than something healthy.  I also realized I wasn't eating near enough to counter the calories dance was taking out of me, and that I'd start losing muscle which would be counter-productive.  They also showed us what 2 pounds of fat looked like -disgusting!  Basically, what I'm saying is keeping a food diary made me a healthier snacker and can definitely help you see negative trends Smiley

2 pounds of fat, that is a god incentive to start being more conscious.
