So, I was just watching the videos in the competition section of the website and I was checking the 2009 USA Nationals. My squad will be competing in the Large Intermediate Show Cheer division and I saw alot of tricks that I thought were prohibited for this division. I know this year is supposed to have some different rules. Am I reading the rules correctly? I thought it said for the Intermediate level that Basket Tosses are only single trick, so that would mean kick-twists are not allowed, right? Also do the new rules state that only Lib-Fulls and High Torchs are only allowed? So that means Heel Stretchs, Arabesques, and Scorpions are not allowed at the Intermediate level? Also if the flyers are thrown by their bases don't they have to be caught by their same bases? Im only asking bc I saw all these tricks being thrown. I just want to make sure Im prepping my girls correctly for their division!!! Please let me know your thoughts as soon as possible Smiley

USA did, in fact, change their rules for the 09-10 competition season. You can find the changes highlighted on the division limitations section of USA's competition page. All of the stunts you are seeing on the National's videos are from the 08-09 competion season; therefore, the changes had not taken effect yet. So ya, intermediate level can only do extended libs (no other skills: heel stretches, scales, etc), one skill per basket..all of the things you noticed in the videos and mentioned are no longer allowed. I've been studying the changes like crazy to get my girls ready, as well! Good Luck!

You can do the other Liberty tricks, however if you do it can only be in a pyramid...braced on one side by someone at prep level or below.
You are correct in all your change assumptions, Intermediate is now what Novice used to be with a few exceptions.
