I remember a couple of years ago at a Cheer Pro competition in Long Beach, CA there was a cheerleader who feel from a stunt or a tumbling pass and she was pretty hurt and one of the spotters just pushed the girl to the other end of the mat, where you enter to start your routine, it took about 10-15 seconds but the teams coach finally went to go check on the girl it was pretty sad. Also I remember when I coach called some of the girls on our team retards . And I remember when my coach flipped out because my flier loaded into our stunt with a rounded back, hunched over shoulders, and flexed feet. And I also remember when one of the gymnastics instructors, who was our tumbling coach told us that we would do an hour of leg conditioning, if one more person sat down during our tumbling class. Those were the days. So what crazy cheer stories do you have?

Mine is a fun one. Our flyers somehow slid out of an extension and when she came down, she came fast so everyone tried to grab to make sure she didn't fall through and she ended up with an atomic wedgie!!!

Ha ha, atomic wedgie . I knew a flyer who had farted in her backspots hand, that was awkard, especially since the backspot laughed at her flyer. I remember when our who entire team had to perform at a basketball game, because even though we were an allstar no one's parents wanted to drive to Irvine for a cheerleading exhibition at a competition, and since the floors were hardwood some of the girls were nervous to tumble (especially since basketball floors are so slippery) and the coach yells to them:"I don't care if its hardwood floor, tumble!!!!". :oThat was the only moment where I was glad that I did not get my tumbling, cause I would have been one of those girls! And I recall one practice where a flyer had the balls to roll her eyes at the coach, for our team, that was interesting.

Got another good one. This happened just a few days ago. My kids were practicing the rolloff part of their routine. They shoot up & clap, then bend over & touch the ground then pop back up. Well, one of my girls farted on the bend over part & went about her business finishing the routine while everyone behind her fell to the floor, dying from laughter. She smile and said, I told you all before, if I have to fart, I'm gonna fart!

...it was pretty sad You're right. That is sad. I'm all for sharing funny stories...like the fart and wedgie ones...but there are enough stories about cheerleaders getting injured out there that we don't need to share any more of them here. Just my opinion. We all know that injuries can happen. Lets focus instead on what we all can do to prevent them.

Sorry about the injury one, whats up with cheerleaders farting? I think that we all just feel way too comfortable with each other cause I know that most girls on my team had no problem picking their wedgies or being sweaty during practice. I remember during tumbling practice a gymnastics instructor (who was our tumbling coach at the time) told us that we would have to do an hour of leg conditioning if anyone sat down and if anyone didn't attempt their tumbling then we would have to do pushups. Trust me we all learned to get our act together.

My profile picture was a stunt that went bad at a game and the newspaper caught it on film. No one was hurt. We were doing a straddle lift and the base pushed the girl forward instead of up and the flyer went over her head and they caught her in this postition.
And OMG the bodily funtions work well on my squad too. I have one girl who always passes gas and one day Girl "A" asked the gas passer if she had tooted and the gas passer said. "How did you know I was going to fart I didn't even know I was going to" We all had a good laugh.

Ha ha ha about the farting story and knowing that someone will pass gas. I think that I am horrible for saying this but now that I am out of cheer I kind of chuckle at some of the things coaches say. Back in middle school I remember that our coaches had made us point a number one motion in the air while walking to our spots and some of the girls on the team had a hard time doing that. After practice my dad turns to me and said that was stupid, now I do not necessarily agree with him, but sometimes I do think that some of the things done in cheer must look absolutely insane to outsiders.

I can't really see the picture - what does the caption say?

The caption says "Sometimes cheerleading stunts don't come out quite the way they ought to. Thats (girls name) hanging upside down"
She (girls name) was such a good sport and when she got down safely she hit a pose for the crowd. SHe is so fun to have on the squad and nothing ever seems to effect her great attitude.

Have a crazy moment for today Was getting ready to stunt, reminded one of my girls (the farter) to remove her nose ring, she politely said just a minute coach, it's gonna take me a second, need to get the booger off my nose ring

It was the beginning of our season, and we were invited by another all star gym to an allstars showcase. It was just a chance for all of the local teams to show off their routines. We had just got brand new uniforms that were kind of cut out at the shoulder. I decided to wear a strapless bra. Stupid...stupid...stupid.
We start the routine and everything's fine. Then I feel my bra slipping during our dance section. And it just keeps slipping and slipping. It gets to my waist and all of a sudden unhooks and is at my feet. Stunts were after our dance section so I tried kicking it out of the way as best as I could.
The routine is over and I have to swallow my pride and pick up my bra as we're walking off. I was 15 at the time, and these little girls from another all star team are sitting at the edge of the mat laughing at me. One of the moms has it on video, unfortunately.
On the bright side, at least it wasn't a competition and we didn't get points marked down for WARDROBE MALFUNCTION.
I can't be the only one this has happened to!!!!! There has to be someone else out there!

My asst. and I took some of our girls to a competition just to observe. One of the squads had very obvious fake hair in, and one of the girls, a flyer, must not have read the directions about sewing the hair in. They were doing their stunt sequence and all of a sudden this giant fuzzy thing comes FLYING across the mat when she was twisting down--obviously her hair. So for the rest of the routine we had to watch all this giant hair bobbing around, trying to avoid this monsterous thing at the front of the mat and one girl flying through the air with her hair pinned back like she'd lost her wig. It was just weird!
