I am pretty much new to this whole thing....
I am not a cheerleader yet, but if I do make the squad then we'll have to go to a cheer camp during the summer...
What exactly do you do in cheer camp?
What kind of cheer camps are there?
Is it hard?
Any advice on it?
 Huh Huh Huh

XOXOXO

Typically, there are home camps, day camps and overnight camps.
Home camps are hosted at your school and are specifically for your team. Day camps are hosted at a local university during the day, but your team commutes to and from the university each morning and evening. Overnight camps are hosted at a local university and your team will stay in the dorms or a hotel at night. Camps can vary anywhere between 1 to 4 days depending on location and company.

During summer camp, you will learn cheers, dances, and improve your stunting skills. Also, your team will work on team unity and performance skills. It will be a lot of hard work, but also very fun.

Go in with a good attitude,be prepared to try new things, and don't get frustrated if you don't get something right away. Camp is about learning new things and pushing your limits. Definitely bring a big water bottle with you during the day and pack lots of socks/sports bras(they will get sweaty and you'll want to change at lunch/dinner time).

Here's some examples of what an NCA camp schedule looks like:

Panthercheer2b,
You may or may not be the only male at camp.  Be careful.  Make sure you have as much fun as possible and remember, boys don't get to room with the girls.  The guys usually room in a dorm with other male cheerleaders or instructors.  The only guy I had last year had to room on his own and was lonely at night so we spent as much time with him as possible.  So don't get discouraged and have a ton of fun.

Then that makes it easier.  Panthercheer2b, don't go into camp nervous, just have fun with it.  You will learn so much material but you will have so much fun in the process.  As a coach, camp is probably one of the funnest things about cheer.  You develop such a bond with the others.  You guys go in not truly knowing a whole lot about each other but leave pretty much knowing everything about everyone.

Hehe, thanks BigCheerMama!
Camp really sounds like fun, because I know some of the girls that are trying out, but I don't know everything about them. So I guess this would be an opportunity to get to know people and make new friends. Thanks for all the tips and info!
