How cool is this?  The visiting coach's son has been diagnosed with autism and the host school is fundraising to both schools for autism research.  Cheers for sportsmanship!!!

Cheerleaders from many schools in our district (Disctrict XI in PA) have become involved with the Angel 34 foundation (angel34.org).  It benefits kids with cancer and their families and was started by a girl who was diagnosed with cancer at 14 and passed away at age 16 (but not before getting the foundation up and running to help other kids!).

This year, we partnered with one of our rivals to sell links to go around the stadium for .50 each.  Between the two schools, we sold about $1000!

Our school also designed a Coal Region Football t-shirt in 4 different color combinations so that all the schools that we play could get them.  Our rival school also helped to sell some of the t-shirts.  Of each shirt's $5 profit, $3 went to Angel 34, $1 to the American Cancer Society, and $1 back to our cheerleaders.  We are still selling the shirts, but total we will have $690 for Angel 34 and $230 for the ACS.  We are taking our $230 and putting close to $150 back into additional donations for the two charities.

This is the first year that I've gotten my girls involved in charity work, and it has been SO rewarding.  To be able to partner with another team just made it that much more special.  Any teams in Eastern PA, let me know if you'd like to get involved with Angel 34, and I can get you information.
