hi guys

I have a problem with my jumps. Soon, I want to join a college cheerleading squad, but yet I can't seem to jump right.

Toe Touch

My toe touch seems to be in front but not in a split. I try to roll my hip, but I don't know what that really means. Is it just a muscle issue for me? Because I am a male, but I am skinny enough to do all of the jumps and flips.

Pike

My pike is really ok. I just need help with pulling it up higher into more of a sit down position.

Left Leg

I have been really flexible almost my whole life, IN THE RIGHT LEG!!! I can do everything with my right leg, front splits, bow and arrow,(while sitting down) heel stretch, but this all makes a difference in my left leg. The only things I can do with my left leg is a scorpion, arabesque, needle, armstrong, liberty(i can do that with both legs), and a chin chin, but I have to hold my foot to do that. I want to make my left leg more flexible(around the knee) because, I understand that when you get lifted, most people use their left leg for all of the stunts.

Can someone helo me? I really want to nail this for future reasons.

There are basic jump drills on varsity.com
Go to www.varsity.com
Select the "Library" tab across the top of the homepage
Select "Skills and Drills" on the top row in the middle
Finally, you'll see the "Jumps" article with lots of advice.

Flexibility and stretching will help jumps.  Don't forget that your abs do a lot of the work.  Sit-up work your upper abs, but don't forget the lower ones.  I suggest starting with the drills on varsity.com--see if you find improvement after a week or two of committed drills and stretching.
