Me= want to be a male cheerleader

Hi guys.

 I am wondering, how do I get my parents to let me cheer?

I have been doing soccer and show choir for a while now, and what amazed me was the fact that the cheerleaders at my school are awesome(at the stunts and jumps)
I want to tell them that I like cheerleading but they probably wont let me because I am a guy. ( yes, they are sexist) I think my mom will understand because she was in drill team and they had guy spotters and guys that were on the team, but my dad, uhhhhh not so much.

Some girls have told me to try out, but the fact that we spend over $300 on choir and $85 on soccer. There is no way I can try out without my parents getting on my case about this stuff.

i have guy cheerleaders on my squad this year and their parents were worried about cost and about how they would be treated.  WE LOVE THEM.  They fit in well. I don't think our crowd will give them a hard time because they are doing amazing things.  As far as the cost it is cheaper than a female cheerleader.  Good Luck.

Talk to your parents about it.  If you feel uncomfortable talking to them by yourself, maybe ask a current cheer squad member to talk to them with you.  The squad member may be able to clarify things for both you and your parents.

If you still feel weird talking to your parents about it, use your school counselor.  That's what they're there for!  They could help you talk to your parents, the cheer coach, or even give your strategies on how to talk to these people.

In regards to the cost of cheer, some schools have limits as to what one family can spend on school activities.  See if your school has an activity night, or contact your activity/athletic director.  They may have some good news for your situation!

okay i have a story for you all of the star football players at the highschool tried out and made it and half of them got full ride cheer scholarships one to ucla.

Not an exageration! I know it can be a little tough in high school, with the immaturity level, but really I've not met a single person that doesn't respect male cheerleaders (even my Marine Corps Drill Instructor in bootcamp thought it was cool...) A lot of people tell me they wish they did it back when they could...

I have absolutely no regrets becoming a cheerleader... Its something not many people can do... check out this list of celebrity-former male cheerleaders:

Also many many many cheerleading scholarships go unclaimed every year.  You so could have a great chance of having college paid for.  Maybe that will change his mind.

Really? I thought that collegiate cheerleading scholarships were very competitive.
