I never went to resident camps as a cheerleader (we always had privates) and now as a coach, I prefer taking my team to away camps. Last year was my first year at a resident camp as a coach, and I love how every team chants everywhere they walk as a team!

We were really there at camp to learn, and this year, now that we know what camp is all about, we need some ideas for things to yell as we are walking. Every team had some really cool chants - what do you use? We tried just saying our "general" cheers, but it sounded kinda nerdy (like we were walking around actually cheering just not doing the motions!)

What do your teams chant at camp? I would love to hear some ideas! Grin

First, just take some of your simple, crowd-involvement chants you would use with students at pep assemblies and games.  Those are easy to remember, and they usually profess your school's name, colors, and mascot--just what staffers want to hear and see!

Here are some generic chants, although good luck on the rhythm!

We are the c-ch-cheer  x  l-ea-der  x  cheerleaders  x x  from [school name]  x x

Let's Go  x  g-o let's fight  x  f-i-g-h-t let's win  x  w-i-n let's go fight  x x  and win

Are you ready  x  are you ready for this  x  do you like it  x  do you like it like this  x  can you handle  x  can you handle this  x  we are  x  SHS

Here is one of my faves:
"Who's in the house? ________'s in the house, and when _______'s in the house, we rock it, WHat? we rock it, HUh? we rock it, all night long"

I concur with RPCmme, any crowd response cheer would work.  Plus, those are usually the more catchy and fun ones to do.

If I remember correctly, my team did the age old (but still a classic) "Ei-Ei-Ei-O..com'n ____ let's go...scooby scooby doo..oh-oh-oh".
They can call out other teams to do the response, great team/team interaction.

I also heard the Dynamite chant "our team is tick tick tick...boom dynamite"

I'm aging myself here but I think there's a newer version of this one:
"hey ____ let me see you get down.."
response: "no way"
"let me see you down"
response: "Okay...D-O-W-N..that's the way I get down...WOO!"  (then of course the person can do a motion; dance whatever)

We never did our own chants walking. We always did silly cheers. Like: Tarzan, Ola Ola A, The we've got spirit competition if another team was close by, Let me see your frankenstein. Most of the ones we did were repeating chants and the captains would call them out.
