This is my first year coaching.  I have 16 9th graders and we are headed to UCA camp July 23rd.  What do I need to bring to camp?  I don't want the team to feel left out (because they have a new coach).  I read something about door decorations, etc.  What should I be prepared to do to make this the best experience for my girls?  What routines do I need to bring to camp... just a Pom Routine?

We went to UCA last year and it was our first year coaching highschool as well. The pom routine is optional..not all squads bring one but if you do your squad will be evaluated against the other squads who brought a home pom and the results are given on the last day.

Last year we had the girls decorate their rooms and we had a contest on whos was decorated the best; we had some of the UCA cheerleaders judge. We also brought some ribbons to give out as awards to the girls who worked the hardest that day.

If you go to the UCA website, they should have a list of what you need for camp. Thats what I did last year. And there is another blog somewhere on here, probably in the camp section, about camp traditions. I got a lot of good ideas from that blog for this year the we are probably going to use.

Hope this helps!
