Hi there,
I just finished try-outs for the 09-10 season, and I only have 9 girls! We are a competitive squad for the first time, this year, and I'm kind of panicking because I have no idea what pyramids I can do that are legal, and would work with only 9 girls! I'd really appreciate it, if someone could help me! thank you,
Shelby

Some stunts go wrong but we caught it no injuries

I only had 9 girls 2 years ago and here is what I did.  I had a prep (my back loaded the flyer in and then became a head spot for the swedish falls)  --the girls with their leg in the air had their hands on the preps shoulders.  I had the girls holding the legs and then 2 head spots.  I changed my profile picture to a picture of what I am trying to explain because I didn't explain it well.  this is legal at high school level.  If you cradle the prep you have to get the swedish falls down first and then move your head spot to a bock spot again to make a cradle legal.  We did hands down from the prep and it was legal.  A lot of times I will look at a picture of a stunt and then put my hand over 1/2 of it to see what it would look like.  Try it you might find a pyramid you like and can do.

I had a team of 9 a few years back.  One thing that we did was a leapfrog.  A prep goes up with a back and two bases in front of them.  The flyer in the prep grabs the girls hands in front of her.  On a count, the bases and back of the prep dip down to a squish, and then the flyer posts off the girl in front's hands to pop over her head (through her arms--they're holding on the entire time) and into the waiting bases' hands to a squish and then up to whatever.  Then a second flyer jumps into the original prep bases and goes up to extension.  I'm sure you can find a video somewhere online.

We also did something where a girl went up into a lib and then steps into another group in the air.  The original group brings her down to prep level (like a power press), and the flyer puts her other foot (the one that was bent for the lib) into the next set of bases' hands.  Then she steps up onto the next set, and a new flyer gets into the original set, and then they both pull scorpions or whatever.

I've also seen a mini-pyramid where one group goes to an extended hitch to the inside and hitches onto a prep-level hitch to the inside.  Then both groups re-take and switch (so that the prep group goes to extended hitch and extended hitch does the prep hitch).  Obviously, you need one flyer who can fly on her left leg instead of right for this one.

I'm sorry these descriptions are so confusing; I did my best to explain quickly.  Hope some of this helps!
