i have been working on my tuck for two years. i do get enough height sometimes but i freak out with my coach eases up on the spot. my college doesnt have cheerleading so i want to find an all-star team that does an open team, but i want my standing tuck before i look for one. any advice on what to do?

Try to do them on the trampoline, but start with your hands above your head then bounce(or not) and do your tuck..it helps becuase you are already seting all the way before you tuck and then you will remember the feeling of how the set feels....A lot of people keep telling me that I have a high standing tuck and thats what i did....good luck(:

There was a drill I used to have to do in tumbling class specifically for this. My coach would set up those mats that are kind of like a a 4 sided triangle that when put together form a pyramid type thing ( sorry I don't know what they are called! ) He would always make them around the height of my shoulders and I would have to do tuck drills up on them. It taught me how to jump up first and then rotate my hips. I also had to do tucks up to a mat. Instead of off the mat I reversed it and had to go up. I always had a spot and it was pretty scary, but it worked.

a drill that a girl a couple years ago did on my team
was to use ankle weights and do knee highs for 2 minutes
and then she took them off and her tuck was higher and faster
it worked for her

Hit the weight room and do some squats. I think that this should strengthen your thighs and give you more height.

Make sure that your head and shoulders are going UP not back.  You may be angling your upper body like you would for a handspring, but your head and shoulders provide the up momentum in the tuck while your knees give you the back momentum and rotation.  Also really driving your knees should help give you a faster rotation, and make sure you really open up as you land; some people do a nice tuck but then stay tucked and end up falling onto their knees at the end simply because they never opened up to land it.
