Hello Coaches,

I am having a cheer camp for my youth squad this summer.   I plan to have it it later on in August before school starts, that way the material they learn will be fresh in their minds for the start of the season in September.  I am new to coaching (2nd year) and I've never had a camp before.  I know this will be a great experience for my girls!

Any advice/suggestions on making this camp successful for my youth would be greatly appreciated!  It will be a UCA camp for half-day, 4 hours only.   Thank you for your help as always!

Cheers! Cheesy

I think it's great that it's only half day.  If it were longer they might be burnt out on it.  Varsity does a 4 day camp for youth rec depts in the area.  By the 3rd day they are tired of looking at us.

Bring a video cam and record the dances, cheers, and sidelines.  This way if they forget, and for you as well.  Make sure you give out awards at the end... Something silly and something personal.  Make it fun for them.

If you send me a pm, I can email you a schedule, curriculum, flyers, and waivers for such an event.
