I'm curious to hear what other teams are doing for the Heroes Rally Day at UCA camps this summer.  We are kicking around a few ideas and wanted to know what other coaches are thinking.  We were swimmers last year for the Sports Rally, and the girls really loved their outfits, so we want to do something cute but easy to move in again.  Any ideas?

Since we're doing a home camp this year, I'll be more than happy to share what we did last year for rally day.
Our Varsity team were boxers (white tanks and basketball shorts; hand wraps and hair in braids. cute!) and our JV team were golfers (plaid shorts; polo's and visors).
After we left camp, one of the team members suggested we should've been referees!  Duh!  sports theme and no refs?  LOL!

I've been thinking about it too, and I think I'm going to have the girls write a paragraph at the beginning of the summer about who their hero is and then for the rally I'm going to have them each dress up like the person they wrote about.  I think we'll see a lot of soldiers, firefighters, police officers, etc, so I want to do something unique with them.

Oh that's a cool idea!  My sister likes to make them matching outfits, but that is a great way to do it too!

I would think if there was a particular local hero, that would be a very unique way to go as well.

Though I do have a preference towards soldiers. Cheesy I can't wait to hear more ideas!!

Some stunts go wrong but we caught it no injuries

I have never heard of this type of thing before.  do they do this at all camps?  I have only had private camps so I don't really know what goes on at the camps you travel to.

I believe it's done at all UCA resident summer camps.  Each year, there's a day where they cover pep rally material (games, etc.), and there's a different theme for each year.  Last year was a Sports Rally (dress like a different sports team), the year before was a Rockin' Rally (dress like a rock star), and the previous year was some sort of decades theme (dress from the 50's, 60's, 70's, or 80's).  It's a fun morning; the girls really loved our swimmer outfits last year--black bathing suits with either purple, teal, or pink (depending on class year) skirts made of towels that my sister and I made and goggles on top of their heads.

sounds like fun.  I guess you miss out on a little when you do private camp.  But I love the one on one.

When I think of Heroes, I think of two things. Heroes the tv show and super heroes like superman, etc.

Do any of you have private camps and incorporate this type of idea in to it?

I love the "Heroes" tv idea! I love that show! However, we are going as firefighters. My fiance is a firefighter in our town, and one of the cheerleader's dads is the fire chief, so we have all kinds of good stuff. We are actually getting REAL turnouts and helmets for the girls to wear. I work on a local ambulance so I'm going to wear my work uniform that day also.  I think we are also going to cut out a big cardboard fire engine and "drive" it into the gym and have air horns, and have the girls put their red poms in the middle of the floor or in the bleachers and use megaphones to put out the fire somehow. They also have a very large uniform that the fire department mascot (Sparky - a big dalmation) wears and we are going to have our greyhound wear it as well. I am so excited because we have a great resource to use! Too bad our camp is 2 hours away or we would have them drive us to camp in one of the engines!

From the description in the camp packet, they want everyday heroes, not superheroes (because that was my first thought too).  Otherwise, my squad would all be dressed as She-Ra or Wonder Woman haha.

When reading the UCA packet they suggest superheroes...which my girls really seem excited for!
