HI,

Everyone,

My team learned a great pyramid sequence at camp this year.  the issue we suddenly seem to be having is with the toe touch pyramid part.  I have one stunt group fully extended and one group at prep.  They are facing each other.  The two groups link arms and on the pop the extention the hits a toe touch and returns to the hands of her bases.

The problem we are having is that the toe touch  flyer is now falling through her bases.

Are we trying to go to big with the toe touch?  Perhaps the bases are not catching high enough and absobing well???

any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated and the sooner the better.  we go to our first Comp in four days.   Undecided

any video would be greatly appreciated as well.

Thanks coaches!

Do you have a video of your team doing it?  Us being able to see what is going wrong would help better than everyone just guessing.

Hi,

My video turned out so dark that it is not viewable Angry.  Still if anyone has any suggestions I would love to them.

I think the issue is with my bases.  they seem to be stepping out before the re-catch the feet.

The one piece that I was able to fix tonight was that the brace for the stunt was not supporting enough and giving the "jumper" the time to get her feet back under herslef.  also the jumper was hitting more of an "eagle" than a toe touch.  We made some great progress tonight.  Eventhough the jumper is still coming down.  I think we isolated a few errors.

If anyone has any thoughts on how I might que the bases to stya in and spot high for the foot.  let me know.

Thanks in asvance

This toe-touch execution should really be on the extension group.  If your brace support too much, she may be considered to be "holding up" the transitional flyer...be careful!

If I'm understanding this correctly, I would advise two main things:
1.  The bases/spots:  be sure to give your flyer a nice pop; use your legs and give a nice dip and then explode on the pop--this will give the flyer more time to execute the skill.
2.  The flyer:  this is where the skill really needs to be perfected.  Even with a great toss, the flyer is in control of this transition.  Can she perform the skill on the ground?  Without a typical jump approach (whip, high clasp, etc.) can she execute a clean toe-touch jump with a clean landing?  Perfect this skill on the ground first, then the transition in the air will come easier.  The flyer can work on drills on the hip-flexer to maximize the toe-touch and the quick clean with legs together, so the bases and spot have a target to grap for the catch in the load-in position.

Hope it all worked out well!

When my bases are backing out of a stunt for whatever reason I put someone against them. I'll either place them back to back as they might be in a pyramid anyway or have someone stand behind the base with her hand lightly placed on the bases mid-back. They don't push on the base but they remind her that she can't back up, with gentle firm pressure. This always works for my girls.
