Hi, we are going to be moving into the Austin area in June. My daughter has done all-star cheer for 3 years and we are going to be looking for a new gym. I have searched on the net for teams and it is very difficult to decide where to take her and would like some parents feedback. I am unsure of what area in Austin we will be in at this time but that is not as important as a good gym. I am originally from Austin and know the area. Any advice you may have is welcome.

Thanks.

Sorry, but we do not allow solicitations on the boards (as per the board rules).  If you are not getting any results searching the internet, you can try a few different things:

  • Go to the gyms and check them out personally.  Prepare some questions to ask and ask the same ones at every gym.  Then, make an educated decision based off of the answers.
  • When you go to the gyms, see if there are any parents in the waiting room.  Ask them the same questions about the gym or, perhaps, come up with some other questions to ask them.  Parents are often very willing to talk about a gym.
  • Feel free to start a new topic on these boards about "How to Find a Good Gym."  Other coaches/parents here may have some good suggestions for you.
  • Since you are not yet in Austin, try a web search for cheerleading forums in the Austin area.  I know of at least two such forums in the state of New Jersey.

I'm going to lock this thread now, but, as I stated above, feel free to start a new thread (do a board search first to make sure there are no pre-existing threads about this topic) about how to pick an all-star gym.

Thread closed.
