The chant goes:
"Form banana, form-form banana"  (kids stretch their arms over their head and clasp their hands)
"Peel banana, peel-peel banana"  (kids slowly bring arms back down)
"GO BANANAS!  GO-GO BANANAS!" (kids jump around like crazy)

You can do all kinds of stuff with this one.  We do the orange with "squeeze the orange" at the end with kids grabbing each other for hugs, "mashed potatoes" while they do the mashed potato, (obviously!) "pop the corn" with kids jumping around and snapping their fingers...you get the idea!

We do some super silly ones, too like "tip the cow" and "rock the mullet".  The little girls really love it!  At our mini clinic we can't do anything without "forming the banana" first!

there's a really good video of peel the banana on youtube. search for form banana, its a bunch of kids at what looks to be a pep rally, but it is the best i have seen of the banana song.

there is also a game called big booty, and then a chant we used to do about tarzan swinging.

I went on another youtube search to try and get you videos of these two songs, but couldn't find any. I also don't recommend searching for big booty song either! haha. Anyway I will try to explain them out as good as I can. I can barely remember the tarzan one so I will type in what I can and hopefully someone else will know the rest.

big booty- you stand in a circle and choose one girl to be the big booty. She is number one, then go around the circle and count off until everyone has their number. (the more ppl you have the tougher it is) Once you do this you start chanting "Awwww big booty big booty big booty, aww yea, big booty" when you chant you also clap your hands and then hit your thighs over and over to keep a beat. Once you've chanted the first part the big booty (aka #1) says "big booty number 8" (she can choose whatever number she wants). This is where it's fuzzy for me so if I don't explain it right someone correct me! Then the girl who is number eight has to choose a number and say "big booty number 1, 8, & the number she choose" From here its kinda like the old game simon. The girls have to number off the numbers previously said and then add a new number and whoever's number they choose then has to do the same. I hope that makes since!

tarzan- this one i can barely remember, but its just something you chant. The names at the beginning are always drawn out, so I spelt them kinda how they should sound. The part I put in the parenthesis are the repeater parts. Someone or a few girls need to be the leader parts. Some verses I remember more then others. The blanks are the parts I can't remember. On the Jane verse I think its something to the affect of flew threw a hurricane, but it doesn't sound right so I left it blank.
Taaaaarzan (Taaaaarzan), Swinging on a rubber band (Swinging on a rubber band), smaked into a frying pan (smaked into a frying pan), now Tarzan's got a tan (now Tarzan's got a tan)
Jaaaaane (Jaaaaane), Flying on an airplane (Flying on an airplane), ________ (_______), now Jane's got pain (now Jane's got pain)
Shaaaamooo (Shaaaamooo), Swimming in the ocean blue (Swimming in the ocean blue), swam into a big canoe (swam into a big canoe), now Shamoo's got a boo boo (now Shamoo's got a boo boo)
Boooozo (), with his big red noso (with his big red noso), _______ (_______), now Bozo's noso's _____ (now Bozo's noso's _____)

There are probably more verses. Im hoping someone can come in and help a little better with these!

isn't there one that the girls sit around at comp. waiting for the results and their all in a circle and they do something and slap the next girls legs and it goes faster and faster??

Also i thought of another one-the Were going to Kentucky were going to the fair to see a seniorita with flowers in her hair shake it shake it shake it shake it all u can and when u cannot shake it then do the best u can (round and round and round she goes) wherever she stops nobody knows( one girl is in the middle of the circle and runs in circles) when she stops she points to someone and it starts over! its cute!

come on i know theres a million more anyone out there???

I remember the one you're talking about. The girls sit in a circle indian style and put out each hand palm. The right hand is on top of the persons left hand next to them, so everyone has one on top and one on bottom. When they start singing they take their right hand and hit the left hand of the person next to them. Whoever was slapped last when the song ends is out, and then you restart. It keeps going until there is one person left and she is the winner. The song is below.

Down by the riverside hanky panky where the bullfrogs jump from bank to bank singing eas me sun shi bow wow ding dong.

It's funny how different versions on sing-songs exist.  The game coachamie is talking about has been going on in my area since I was a little girl (and probably before that) but we sing it differently...

Down by the banks of the hanky panky, where the bullfrogs jump from bank to banky, where the eeps, opps, soda-pops, hey Mr. Willy and he went kerplop!

I learned this version in grade school:

Down by the river say hanky panky, say bullfrog, bullfrog, hanky panky, say fe fi fo fum, pass it to the next one!

It's funny seeing all the different versions; this is the one in the UK:

Down by the banks of the hanky-panky,
where the bull frog jumps from bank to banky,
with a hip hop, flip flop,
Missed that banky and went ker-plop!

Okay - that makes much more sense than mine!  HA!   Cheesy

I'm sure it's kind of like the telephone game - people probably couldn't remember all the words & it's in it's different forms throughout the world!  Kind of fun to see the other verses!

OK, Ships & Sailors.  Each word, which you will call out to the group, is assigned an action that the kids have to do.  It's sort of like Simon Says, with the girls who don't do the right thing being eliminated until you finally have a winner.  Here's the words and actions:
Ships:  Run left
Sailors:  Run right
Captain's Coming:  Stand at attention saluting
Swab the Deck:  Girls pretend to mop and whistle the whole time
Titanic:  Two girls pair up and do the whole "I'm flying Jack!"  thing from Titanic
Three men rowing:  Three girls sit one behind the other on the floor and pretend to row
Four men eating:  Four girls sit in a circle on the floor and pretend to eat
Five men on watch:  Five girls stand in a row and point
Pirates:  Coaches run after girls and tag them out.

I think there are more, but I don't remember.  Hope that helps!

Yeah, when you yell Pirates, everyone runs around.  And you don't hav to call stuff out in that order.  It's more fun to mix them up and see if the kids can keep them straight.

We have a similar game in the UK called Pirate ship. Basically there are a load of commands that the leader shouts and the last person to do one is out.

Port - run to the left of the room
Starboard - run to the right
bow - run to the front
stern - run to the back
scrub the decks - drop to the floor and pretend to scrub
captains coming - stand to attention
Bombs over head - drop to the floor flat

I think there are a few more commands but I cant remember them

OK, we played Ships & Sailors at camp today, so here the few I forgot.

Seasick: Pretend to throw up
Hit the Deck:  Self expalainatory, isn't it?  Wink
Beached Whale: Lay on your stomach, grab your feet, and rock back and forth.

Some stunts go wrong but we caught it no injuries

We do the  banana salute

we also do ola ola ah

and we do "and were marching"

The crowd love banana salute as well as and were marching.  Cheerleaders love ola ola ah

For banana salute we do
build the house, paint the house, and rock the house
build the eagle, pluck the eagle, beat the eagles

For and were marching we do
let me see you
basketball
football player
volleyball player
funky chicken
John Travolta

I forgot about "and we're marching"

we did that at UCA college camp once but of course it was an adult version, but it was still fun

"PANTHERS OUT" WHAT NOW?!

octopus: wiggle on the floor
man over board: act as if drowning w/ another person trying to save you.
land ho' : someone gets down like a table and other person puts foot on them doing a captain morgan stanse or someting like that and looks around.
hmm:
we do ride that panther:
everyone standing in a circle one person skipping in the middle while everyone is chanting:
ride-a-ride that panther x4
then stops in front of someone and everyone chants:
this is how we do it
front-da-front that panther (does a dance to the front)
side-da-side that panther (hip bump)
back-da-back that panther(dances back to back)

then do that until everyone has a turn.
